November: Small Town Girl Meets Diamond Sweethearts

Hi guys! My name is Claire Zak and I am currently a senior this year at Texas State!  Coming from a small town with a graduating class of 90 kids to moving to San Marcos to attend the beautiful Texas State University was a challenge for me. Growing up super shy and such an introvert, I knew that when I moved up to college, I wanted a change. Though I had a lot of my high school friends attending the university, I wanted more. In the spring of 2020, I joined Diamond Sweethearts and it gave me more than what I could’ve ever imagined for myself!

Though my first semester in the organization was cut short due to the pandemic, just within the first few weeks of being a member, I have met the most wonderful and sweetest girls that I can now call my forever friends! Fast forwarding to the fall semester, with things slowly trying to get back to normal, I worked my first ever tickets position for a football game with my little. I have never had so much fun getting to know my little better and seeing the fans get excited just solidified my love for Texas State. In the spring semester, I decided last minute to take another little and that was probably the best decision I had made! She is someone who I know I can turn to day or night when things go wrong or call to rant about anything and everything. She has made events or games more enjoyable and I’m so happy to call her my best friend!

My favorite memory of this organization will always be the mandatory games where the whole org sits and cheers on the Bobcats. I always look forward to attending the games and sitting with friends to catch up on our week. Another memory would be Retreat, this gives everyone the opportunity to bond through games and a chance to open up to one another. After attending retreat, I always walked out knowing that the whole organization had my back, and I would have theirs. These girls are truly genuine and I’m so happy to be a part of something so positive.

Joining Diamond Sweethearts has brought me out of my shell and will forever hold a special place in my heart. I have met my greatest of friends and my future bridesmaids! With my love for sports, I knew that working the games and cheering on the Bobcats through this organization made Texas State feel like home. I am truly grateful for all my friends and memories made here! Though my time here at Texas State is almost over, my advice to the girls who are shy and quiet like me, JOIN! I promise you; you will not regret it. This organization doesn’t just give you over 100 friends, it gives you memories that will last a lifetime.

Love,

Claire Zak
