October: Diamond Sweethearts Are A Girl's Best Friend

Being a member of Diamond Sweethearts has brought me so much in the short time I have been here at Texas State. I have been given support, friendships, and most importantly, a family. Coming into a large organization as a freshman was so scary for me. I have a habit of isolating myself in social situations therefore, sometimes it can be hard for me to make friends. Now, being able to say I have over a hundred friends is truly astonishing. 

Big and little reveal is one of many special traditions Diamond Sweethearts has. Veteran members have the opportunity to take a little and guide the new members through anything and everything. The day I got a big is one of my absolute favorite college memories. It’s so special to have someone there to confide in and help you through college and being a new member of Diamond Sweethearts. I needed all of the support I could get freshman year. I was given a family and immediately they were there for me. Through my sweetie family, I’ve been able to branch out even more and their friends are now mine.

Having such a positive experience, I couldn’t wait to have a little of my own. I wanted the chance to give back the same love and support I received. I’ve been able to create the same bond I have with my big with a new member, and I knew I wanted her as my little. I kept my identity a secret and couldn’t wait to see the look on my little’s face the day of reveal. We had our reveal on the baseball field, which is super fitting for our organization. In a mess of sparkles, purple and smiley faces my little found out I was her big. We were both so excited along with all of the other members. It’s one of the best feelings to meet your family.

This tradition is very important to all of us members. There is nothing better than making lifelong friendships through an organization we all love. I am honored to be a part of something significant to Diamond Sweethearts. The memories we make and photos we take on big and little reveal day are truly sweet.
