Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend *recruitment special*

In all honesty, I didn’t really know how to start this.. I kept going back and forth between the right opening line. Simply because, it’s hard to shape everything this organization has brought me into sentences. Somehow these girls make working games in 100 degree weather addicting. Somehow these girls can bring spirit to an entire stadium. Somehow these girls never fail to make me feel a sense of belonging no matter what. Somehow these girls knew how to bring out the best in me. SOMEHOW these girls managed to be mentors, friends, shoulders to lean on, home away from home and peace in all the chaos of simply being a college student.

Let’s get to the sappy stuff. When making friends in college everyone wants to tell you to “just be yourself”, but what they don’t tell you is the key component to that, is finding peers and an environment where being yourself is celebrated and welcomed. When I discovered The Diamond Sweethearts, I fell in love with the fact that every girl in the organization came from diverse walks of life, they all had different quirks, styles, senses of humor etc. There is literally someone for everyone in this organization. Another thing that was new to me was seeing how eager the girls were to help each other. I am not exaggerating when I say if I texted the group chat right now and asked someone to sew an extra pinky toe on my foot, half the girls would respond and say they were on their way. The sweeties are constantly empowering, loving, supporting, and giving to one another... it’s almost like being sweet is in the name or something.

Enough with the chit-chat, cause I’ll go on forever. If being a part of the Diamond Sweethearts is something you’re interested in, my advice would be to make them laugh in your interview, reach out to members (get your name out there!), radiate confidence, and as cliché as it sounds, be yourself. GOOD LUCK!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU!!!!
